Saturn's rings will 'disappear' from Earth's view by 2025

Saturn's iconic rings are gradually fading away, and by 2025, they will no longer be visible from Earth. However, they will become visible again in 2032.

The rings of Saturn will become virtually invisible in 2025 because Saturn will align edge-on with Earth, making them appear as thin as trying to spot a sheet of paper edge-on at a distance.

This phenomenon is known as the Saturnian equinox, and it occurs approximately every 15 years. The last equinox occurred in September 2009, and the next one is expected to take place on May 6, 2025, according to the European Space Agency.

The rings will become visible again in 2032 as Saturn tilts during its 29.5-year orbital cycle, revealing the rings on the opposite side.

Saturn's rings are composed of water ice particles with sizes ranging from microns to tens of meters. These rings display complex structures, and many of these structures are thought to be related to gravitational interactions with Saturn's numerous moons.
